Background story

With the 46+35 in 1994 the first 321 tigerjet ever was born. Because of the fact that two more aircraft were designated for the Cambrai Tiger Meet - the 46+36 and 46+40 - it was decided and granted by higher headquarters that also these two aircraft could get a special painting (this was the first and only time that something like this happened). Both Tornados got identical tiger markings and served - more or less - as accessories to the 46+35. From there on they were called the "twins". Because one of them was always a spare aircraft for the 2 others, which had to stay on the ground, and the 46+35 was never aborted on the ground during the Tigermeet, there is no picture which shows the twins airborne together.

When the repainting - most probably into the ECR grey - took place is not known.
