Background Story

Shown is TORNADO IDS 43+83 of former Naval Wing 1 (Marinefliegergeschwader 1), or MFG 1, in a non standard camouflage painting.

It carries sthe electronic warfare jammer "Cerberus C-III" on its left outside wing station,
a 1150 kg fuel tank on the inside wing station,
a captive (not flyable) air-to-air missile AIM-9L(i) on its special pylon attached to the inside wing pylon and
a captive HARM air-to-ground training missile which detects and destroys radar units.

For the protection of other flying forces in support of maritime operations, the german Navy TORNADO IDS were equipped with HARM missiles long before the TORNADO ECR was introduced 1991.
